Sedona Jazz on the RocksOctober 7th - 8th: Celebrating its 30th year, Sedona Jazz on the Rocks, one of the oldest and most respected jazz festivals in the Southwest, is proud to bring together an eclectic group of artists for the 2011 festival. This two-day music festival takes place in the picturesque city of Sedona at the Sedona Golf Resort.
October 7th - June 3rd: Chamber Music Sedona 29th Season! Presenting Great Live Performances. Six Subscription Concerts plus additional concerts and events.
Through October 9th: Japanese photographer Kenji Kawano, born in Fukuoka in 1949, was not yet born when a group of modern-day Navajo warriors, known as the Code Talkers, defied Japanese intelligence during World War II. By communicating in their own language, the Navajo Code Talkers provided the U.S. Marines with an unbreakable code.
October 9 - 10: Led by acclaimed authors, inspiring luminaries and celebrities, the Woman Arising event is an opportunity for women to take a personal journey to Sedona – one of the most glorious spots in the world – and delve deeper into the meaning of their lives, honor their own stories, and find tools to help them live their full potential.
The Mad Mud Run is four miles of action-packed excitement as you travel up, over, around, and through Posse Grounds Park in Sedona, Arizona. Runners will travel on a marked course passing through multiple obstacles along the way. These obstacles will resemble those which you'd find at a boot camp training course, but they are doable by the vast majority of people. The race ends with a crawl thru a huge mud pit! After the adult race, the kiddies get their chance for some fun with the Mudpuppy Splash - a mini course that ends in the mud pit as well! For more info- http://www.madmudrun.com
October 23rd: The annual event, now at the Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa, features a variety of psychic readings, healing modalities, and exclusive products, as well as free lectures every hour. Get an energy field reading by an M.D., have your aura photo taken with a special camera, consult an astrologer with a unique approach, and experience Huna Enlightenment.
Through October 31st: Taking a scenic drive to search for leafy color is an autumn tradition for many families. Of course that means watching the road, fighting traffic, stopping for food and quelling sibling quarrels over backseat turf. An autumn drive may not always be the hoped-for soothing respite. Yet it can be. Put those cares aside and climb aboard Verde Canyon Railroad's Fall Colors Tour. Then there's nothing to do but relax and enjoy the splendor of the season.
You can read more about all these events in and around Sedona by visiting Gateway to Sedona (Thank you, Victoria!)
